Your Opinion Really Matters
I would like to introduce and differentiate myself from the other candidates in Ward 5, especially from the incumbent and the current stagnant status quo. I am running for Reno City Council Ward 5 because I strongly feel the voice of our Ward needs to represent the whole, rather than the few. Our concerns need to be addressed, and our questions need to be answered.
I share the heartbeat of our wonderful, unique, diverse, and beautiful community. As a product of this community, born, raised and educated here, I cannot stand by or ignore the unsavory elements that are a byproduct of growth that does not take into account the needs of the existing citizenry. I drive these
same streets every day and I have seen many unruly changes.
While Director of Finance and Deputy Director for the Department of Labor/Job Corps, I worked for, and with, large government entities, while representing at-risk individuals. I also served as a board member for a local halfway house for over a decade. I have a unique and vast understanding of navigating and administering economic management as it relates to individuals, corporations and large government entities. I have a Masters Degree in Public Administration, so in addition to my experience, I have the formal education and the credentials to fulfill this position with aplomb.
Make no mistake, the current representative votes to support her special interest funding machine as evidenced by the impacts to our neighborhoods. Leadership is not following a script or a job for someone who can be swayed, I vow to have the courage to represent you and our interests. I am not obligated to anyone other than my constituents, all 50,000+ of my Ward 5 neighbors. I maintain the un-beholden ability to listen objectively, problem solve, utilize and involve the people around me so that we can jointly design and implement an effective course of action. On the City Council, I will employ my ability to sift through large quantities of material researching all angles and determine what is relevant and beneficial to my Ward as a whole. I will work with, and consider, all benefactors of my Ward and I will not be swayed by the big money donors that have previously held influence over our elected official.
I’m running for office because the people of Ward 5 need an unbiased, honest, and a courageous voice. The mindset “go along to get along” under the guise of collaboration isn’t valid for our Ward any longer. If I have to ruffle feathers by not going along, I will do whatever it takes to meet the needs of our Ward’s citizenry. I realize that when I get elected as Councilwoman, and do my job right, my questioning the status quo may not be appreciated by some, but I will question nonetheless. Through dedicated research and earnest, diligent, work and persistence I will push relentlessly for complete answers. My intention is to be an effective, productive council member and a responsible representative of the public interest, specifically Ward 5 constituents.
I am asking for your vote because I have the courage to ensure the citizenry of Ward 5 gets the responsive, unencumbered representation we deserve on the Reno City Council.
